Dust off your wands and robes LA, because the magical world of Harry Potter is finally coming to Universal Studios Hollywood! For those you who have yet to experience the magicalness of Islands of Adventure you won’t have to wait much longer. According to LA Times, Universal has made some changes to its annual passes . One being that it the passes will no longer include parking…which is a major bummer but also that they will be ending in March of 2016 hinting this may be the window that Universal is looking to open its Harry Potter World.
Oh how glorious it will be! The Orlando Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in 2010 and recently they expanded adding Diagon Alley in 2014. There probably won’t full area dedicated in the Hollywood Wizarding World they will have something of a Diagon Alley in the with eight retail shops! I’m definitely excited to see how they will design the Wizarding World for Universal Studios Hollywood. There’s obviously a land factor, the Orlando park Wizarding World is spread over 13 acres while the Hollywood Wizarding World will be limited to 6 acres. Though most of the land in Orlando is covered by the Dragon Challenge rollercoaster which isn’t going to be replicated in the Hollywood park. There’s no confirmation on a Hogesmeade area but they will include the Three Broomsticks restaurant.
Universal has confirmed that they will be including the AMAZING Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride as the featured attraction. Instead of the Dragon Challenge Coaster Universal did say they will be building their first outdoor coaster the “Flight of the Hippogriph”; which to its Orlando counterpart is a “family friendly” or childrens’ ride but it seems that it may be a full-fledged coaster in its Hollywood rendition. So come Spring 2016 get ready to drown yourself in Butterbeer!
Wands at the ready!
During my visit to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando…I got chosen over a crap ton of children to pick my very own wand 😀
